Rock The Riles: A Push For Justice In Maguindanao

December 7, 2009

Last Sunday, December 6, Eight MRT Stations along EDSA became miniature stages with over 120 artists performing for this years’ Rock The Riles with each station corresponding to issues of poverty, global aid, preventable diseases, maternal health, gender equality, environment, education, and child mortality. But more importantly the organizers of this event, Rock Ed Philippines, pushed for justice for the 57 victims of the Maguindanao massacre, considered as the worst political violence in the country.

The Camerawalls took their stand and performed in Cubao and Boni stations respectively citing “Karapatan nating mga mamamayang Pilipino ang mabuhay ng mapayapa. (It is every Filipino citizen’s right to live peacefully.) We condemn the killings in Maguindanao.”
